Wiener Gemischter Satz dac Nußberg 2o19

Alcohol content 12,5 % by vol., dry.
Harvested from terroir “Nußberg”; this vintage combines 10 grape varieties: Pinot Blanc, Neuburger, Grüner Veltliner, Rotgipfler, Traminer, Roter Veltliner, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Müller Thurgau and Gelber Muskateller. They grow side by side in the vineyard and are also picked, pressed, fermented, vinified and aged together. The combination of so many varieties of grape, which have different degrees of maturity when they are harvested, gives my wine its distinctive, fruity character reminiscent of a fruit basket with a touch of apple, wild peach and hints of lemon on the nose. In the finish a well balanced play of fruitiness and lively acidity.

Food pairing: Goes well with Viennese foods like “Schnitzel” and “Backhendl” (enjoy and serve at about 10°C).

Wiener Gemischter Satz dac Ried Unger 2o19

Wiener Gemischter Satz DAC: 13,5 % by vol., dry.
Harvested on October 4th. Ried Unger’s premiere is already the stuff of legend; the wine-tasting notes are superlative: polished, crystal clear, extremely taut – this wine has contours. On the nose roasted raspberry, full on the palate with the tingling of tropical fruits, in the finish a perfectly ripened fruit basket with banana and pear of extraordinary complexity. Completely fermented, one year on fine yeast, endlessly powerful due to the grape varieties Neuburger, Grüner Veltliner, Mendoza-Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Welschriesling, and…

Ried Unger: south-southeast facing slope, maximum sun. First documented in 1402 as “Ungar” at the Nußbach and called “Janus the Hungarian” after the name of the owner.
This special wine is only sold when fully matured one year after the grape harvest (October 2o2o)!

Food pairing: Ideally paired with strong aromas like cheese and brined or smoked meats.

Wiener Gemischter Satz Ried Preussen 2018

Alcohol content 13,5% by vol., dry.
Every year I select the “choice cut” – corresponding to the vintage – and vinify a single vineyard (Terroir-) VGS.
2018 was a special occasion because I separately harvested my rented vineyard, which is part of the Preussen terroir, for the first time on 19 September – 5 years after recultivating this previously desolate vineyard (0.22 hectares) which was planted in the 1960s (!) and which I revived and partially replanted (varieties: Neuburger, Grüner Veltliner, Roter Traminer, Riesling, Müller Thurgau (!), Welschriesling and Sauvignon Blanc).
The wine is anticipated to be available from the mid of September under the name “1. Lage ÖTW (Traditionsweingüter Österreichs)“.

Food pairing: Goes well with Viennese foods like “Schnitzel”, “Schweinsbraten” and “Heurigenplatte” (enjoy and serve at about 10°C).

Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc) 2o19

Alcohol content 13% by vol., semi-dry.

Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc) is an important ancient grape variety used in Vienna´s famous “Gemischter Satz”. The tradition of producing it separately by vinifying ripened Pinot Blanc grapes results in an elegant touch of sugar on the tongue. The nose has typical notes of a Burgundy like burnt almonds with a surprising explosion of flavour on the palate: a creamy structure combined with fruit and fresh acidity.

Food pairing: The ideal wine to accompany all your favourite kinds of food & meat dishes (enjoy and serve at about 10°C).
